Best of the Best: Portsmouth Historic Dockyard

This time, I want to recommend another UK history museum, or rather complex - the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, situated at the UK south coast in, you guessed it, Portsmouth.

Especially for a landlubber like me, it is a place that has an incredible density of historical artefacts, or rather ships, to be explored. Be it Henry VIII's flagship Mary Rose, or Nelson's Victory, or the first British ironclad Warrior, pictured above.

Plus submarines, harbour tours showing contemporary ships of the fleet and so much more. This one complex of a museum is hard to completely enjoy in one day, so you better budget enough time to enjoy it.

Already in Portsmouth, you can then take the world's last commerical hovercraft service to the Isle of Wight.
