Quite I few years ago, I lamented my inability to identify arcade games I had seen as child but couldn't remember their names.
The one with the "bald naginata guy", I did eventually track down to be Tiger Road. It still looks very cool. How did I do that? By watching compilation videos until I recognised it somewhere. But that is not especially effective.
Now, times have changed. I am quite sceptical of overvaluing the use of LLMs, but in my personal experience, if you describe what you remember about a game, the current models can give you suggestions that are often, but not always, spot-on.
